Tempracha teamed
okmalumekoolkat’s hunting klub to do an exclusive clothing range hi-lighting our continents finest tribal prints and really invoke a new light in street trends and with vodacom color this was possible.
Stirring an awareness that we too young designers/innovators are capable of creating our own unique looks, using local materials, that really showcase our bold and beautiful colorful culture, not only in high fashion but on street levels. In the fight of being original and local we learned more on prints and have highlighted a confusion we’ve made in materials and discarded our local prints and claimed the wronged ones as our own eg;”isishweshwe” isn’t at all south african, let alone african but is german print, did you know?.
So we designed a range of shorts out of ndebele prints and 5 panel caps out of congo inspired wax material. We did a short documentary on lo-fi camera quality,as we journey through the durban CBD and downtown in search of these prints and straight to the township of umlazi where the shoot takes place and all photos were taken by
myself the caps and where production of the line was done.
